MGen. Benedict Arevalo, former commander of 301st and 303rd Infantry Brigades, assumed the helm of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division through a Change of Command Ceremony on Tuesday, September 21.
Arevalo replaced BGen. Noel Baluyan, who served as acting division commander following the mandatory retirement of MGen. Eric Vinoya on September 6, a press release from the Army said.
Baluyan is expected to return to his initial position as an assistant division commander.
Arevalo, in his speech, assured all Spearhead Troopers that he assumed the 3ID post not just to command and give orders but to serve them so they perform their jobs well.
His campaign philosophy will be guided by the slogan “Loved by people, feared by the enemy”, Arevalo said.
Spearhead Troopers should continue winning the hearts and minds of the people through civil military operations, he added.*
