A 70-year-old alleged former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the police in Brgy. Zone 12-A, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, January 14.
He was identified by the police only as “Ka Dante”, a former member of the Northern Negros Front of the NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros Bohol Cebu Siquijor.
The police said he surrendered a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition and an M-203 grenade.
The surrender was conducted through an intelligence operation of the Talisay City Police Station and the 1st Mobile Platoon of the 605th Regional Mobile Force Battalion of Police Regional Office 6.
Ka Dante then underwent various interviews and documentation to enroll him in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), the police said.
Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, police regional director, said the surrender is vital to ensuring an insurgency-free region.*
