All systems go for the elimination round of the 1st Kwizko ni Cong.Kiko on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3.
A total of 49 participants, all Grade 10 students of both public and private schools in Victorias City, EB Magalona, Silay City, Talisay City and Murcia have qualified to join the elimination round, Project Director Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa said in a press release Friday, October 1.
The elimination round on October 2 starts at 9 a.m. at the Victorias North Elementary School in Victorias City, slated for contestants from Victorias and EB Magalona. At 1 p.m. the contest will move to Silay City at the Silay Civic Center for the Silay students, the press release said..
On October 3 at 9 a.m. the elimination will be held in De la Rama Hall of the Talisay City Hall for the Talisay contestants. The last elimination round is set at 1 p.m. at the Murcia Public Plaza Covered Court for the Murcia semi-finalists.
The 1st Kwizko ni Cong. Kiko i is a quiz bee challenge open only to Grade 10 high school students who are residents and enrolled in the Third District secondary schools.
Fifteen finalists will earn the chance to compete in the final round set on October 23 at the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas in Talisay City.
Kwizko is a project of Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) in partnership with the Department of Education Negros Occidental Schools Division and the Silay City Schools Division, the Local Government Units, and the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, and TUP-V.
The quiz bee will focus on Mathematics, Science and Technology, Language/Reading/Literature, Social Studies and Current Events.
To ensure compliance with health protocols, the project will use a blended mode and coordinate closely with the respective Inter-agency Task Force for Covid-19 in the District, the press release said.
