All sea travel from Negros to Cebu cancelled: PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended all sea travel from Negros to Cebu starting Sunday, Dec. 17.

The order was issued after Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Cebu due to Tropical Depression “Kabayan”.

Cancelled in Negros Occidental was travel to Daan Bantayan via Cadiz City, Tabuelan, Cebu, via Sagay and Escalante cities, and Toledo, Cebu, via San Carlos City, the PCG said.

The PCG-Central Visayas also suspended marine vessel voyages in all of its substations in the region until further notice, including Negros Oriental.

In a notice to mariners given to Neg. Or., Eastern Bohol, Camotes, Central Cebu, and Western Bohol on Sunday, the PCG in Region 7 said it is temporarily suspending all types of vessels under its area of responsibility.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) has placed the provinces of Bohol, Samar, Leyte, and Camotes Island under Wind Signal No. 1 due to “Kabayan”.

With this, trips of Ocean Fast Ferries from Dumaguete City to Siquijor and Tagbilaran have been suspended.

Voyage of sea vessels will resume upon improvement of weather and sea conditions in the region, the PCG added.*
