The three power distributors in Negros Occidental have lower electricity rates this December.
The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO) on Saturday, Dec. 21, announced that its electricity rate for December is at P13.1125/kWh, which is P1.3484 lower compared to November’s P14.4609/kWh.
NONECO said that the 9.32 percent decrease in electricity rates is attributed to the reduction of generation charge from the contracted power supplier, especially coming from FDC Misamis Power Corporation.
The electricity rates at the Wholesale Electric Spot Market also decreased from P10.4760 to P8.4987/kWh, it said.
NEPC RATES
The Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC) and the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) also earlier announced drops in their power rates this December.
NEPC is spreading holiday cheer this Christmas season with a welcome decrease in electricity rates for consumers, a press release from the firm said.
The distribution utility of Central Negros had announced that December billings for residential customers would reflect a rate of P11.18 per kilowatt hour, a decrease by 82 centavos per kWh compared to last month.
This means that a household with an average monthly consumption of 200 kWh will save almost P164 on their electricity bill, providing a little extra holiday spending for festive feasts and celebrations, NEPC said.
The new rate will cover the billing cycle from November 16 to December 15, and consumers will receive their billings starting December 16.
“We are pleased to pass on these savings to our customers during this special time of year,” said Roel Castro, NEPC president and chief executive officer, said.
The rate reduction is attributed to a decrease in the traded blended generation rates from power suppliers at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), which NEPC passes on to its consumers.
The Distribution System and Metering charge remains at P1.18/kWh, which covers NEPC’s costs as a distribution utility.
This rate reduction is a welcome gift for Negros Power customers, offering a little extra holiday cheer and providing some financial relief during the festive season, the press release said.
“We are committed to providing our customers with affordable and reliable power,” Castro added. “We will continue to work hard to ensure that our customers enjoy the benefits of a stable and efficient power system.”
NOCECO in southern Negros had also earlier announced that its power rate for December decreased by P1.0845/kilowatt-hour, from P15.0388/kWh to P13.9543/kWh.*
