Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez led a group of Bacolod City government officials and department heads on a three-day “benchmarking” trip to Bataan and three cities in Pampanga.

The trip to learn from the best practices of those areas was geared towards further enhancing programs being implemented in Bacolod City, he said.

Joining the mayor on the trip from Saturday to Monday, February 17 to 19, were Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, councilors Em Ang, Cindy Rojas, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Vladimir Gonzales, Jason Villarosa and Renecito Novero, and several city department heads.

Ang said they briefly visited Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, a heritage destination in Bagac, Bataan. Heritage homes from other places were brought there and restored, she said.

The also visited San Fernando, Angeles and Mabalacat cities in Pampanga, she said.

Ang said they observed the preservation of history, artwork and the museum in Angeles, the economic zone in Mabalacat, and the best legislative practices of the San Fernando Sangguniang Palungsod.

The Pampanga officials also learned about programs in Bacolod so the learning process was reciprocal, she said.

Bacolod has a sisterhood relationship with San Fernando that was inked in 2003, Ang said.*
