Albee: Financial mgmt program needed to help city employees

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez*

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said on Sunday, Nov. 26, that there should be a financial management program for Bacolod City government employees.

Benitez said will ask the city government’s Human Resource Management Services to conduct an education program to help numerous employees buried in debts.

They need to be capacitated on how to manage their finances, he said

Lending institutions also need to be accredited to prevent them from charging usurious rates, Benitez added.

The mayor was reacting to a complaint made on his “Isugid Kay Mayor” program aired on FMR Bacolod 91.1 on Sunday by a job order worker against a city government employee who failed to pay her P37,000 that she borrowed.

The JO said the borrower even threatened her.

The borrower, on the other, had said she made the threat because the JO had shouted at her for failure to pay her debt in front of other people.

The borrower promised that she would gradually pay her debt and the lender promised not to charge interest.*
