An “akyat-bahay” suspect was arrested after he was caught inside a house in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Sunday, May 15.
The 18-year-old suspect, whose name was withheld by the police pending the confirmation of his identity, was caught by a resident inside their bedroom.
Lt. Col. Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said the suspect was armed with a knife when he was neutralized.
The suspect was also said to be involved in the previous break-in incidents in the community where he tried to molest three women, including a 14-year-old girl who was able to escape, Guadalupe said.
He said they are still investigating the background of the suspect, who is currently in police custody.
Last week, a woman claimed on social media that a man entered their house and tried to rape her sister. She also asked for help from the authorities to stop the same incidents from happening in their community.
Guadalupe said that the police have officially recorded three incidents since last month.
He also urged residents who may have been victimized by the suspect to report the incident to the police.*
