As part of the Holistic Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Management Program funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation Inc., the Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation Inc. (AIDFI) handed over an initial set of water meters and data loggers to the Murcia Water District (MWD) last February 23 at the MWD Office in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The equipment were handed over by AIDFI Chief Executive Officer Auke Idzenga and were received by MWD General Manager Engr. Winston Makilan. Witnessing the ceremony were MWD Board of Director Edgardo Alcantara, Senior Engineer Lean Arriesgado, Enrg. Rhemark Lava, AIDFI Enterprises CEO Che Idzenga, and technical personnel from both organizations.
After the handover of the equipment, a joint MWD and AIDFI technical team inspected the area where the equipment would be installed.
The metering equipment and data loggers will tremendously help the MWD in measuring the volume of water delivered in relation to the volume of water consumed in a particular area of MWD’s service coverage. With these and other related data, the MWD can identify which areas have substantial NRW, so that the MWD can implement measures to address and properly manage the NRW in that area.

The Holistic NRW Program, which runs until the end of 2026, aims to equip and assist five water utilities in Negros Occidental in crafting a Comprehensive and Holistic NRW Plan to manage the utilities’ non-revenue water.
With a Comprehensive and Holistic NRW Plan, the water utilities could properly manage and minimize their NRW losses, translating to more volume of water available to more consumers, more revenues for the water utility, and improved services to the consumers.*PR
