AFP central command chief bids farewell to Negros troops

Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan, commander of Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command, bade farewell to the 303rd Infantry Brigade troops at Camp Gerona in Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, July 28.

Ancan, who is from Victorias City, Negros Occidental, is retiring next week.

Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IB commander, accorded Ancan the customary foyer honors.

One of the highlights of his exit visit was the awarding of Gold Cross Medals to one officer and seven enlisted personnel of 62nd Infantry Battalion and 33rd Division Reconnaissance Company for their gallantry in action during the simultaneous encounters against 40 rebels at Sitio Agit, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on March 23.

The encounter resulted in the death of 10 rebels and the capture of high-powered firearms.*
