
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said today, January 11, that the number of COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental have increased, which could be attributed to the holiday celebrations and the resumption of the return of Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) to the province.
The governor said the active cases have risen from 93 earlier to 110 on Sunday, January 10.
There are 19 LSIs who returned to Negros Occidental since January 3 who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Provincial Incident Management Team also reported that COVID-free LGUs in the province have dropped from eight to three as of Sunday, January 10.
The three remaining COVID-free LGUs are Salvador Benedicto, Hinoba-an, and San Enrique.
San Carlos City still has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 29, followed by Silay City with 13, Cadiz City – 10, Murcia, Toboso, Sipalay City and Talisay City – 5 each, Kabankalan City – 4, Escalante City, La Castellana, Manapla, Victorias City and Himamaylan City – 3 each, Pontevedra, Sagay City, Valladolid and Bago City – 2 each, and Moises Padilla, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, Binalbagan, Pulupandan, Calatrava, La Carlota City, Cauayan, Candoni and EB Magalona – 1 each, the PIMT reported.*
