Action taken on complaints vs. minors, toddlers in mall

The Bacolod City government will look into reports of minors, including toddlers, seen roaming around a mall, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said on Sunday, November 7.

That is in violation of Executive Order No. 51, Series of 2021, which sets Alert Level 4 restrictions in Bacolod City, he said.

A concerned government official, who asked not to be identified, said she saw at least four to five toddlers and numerous other minors roaming around SM City Bacolod on Sunday.

It appeared as if they were using the pediatric vaccination for children aged 12 to 17 years old as an excuse to roam around the mall, she said.

And there were toddlers and children below 12 years old also inside the mall, she added.

“The children allowed in the mall are those who qualify for vaccination and National ID registration, and those who need essential services, such as dental, eye check up, haircuts, etc”, May Castro, SM City Bacolod PR manager, said

“We assure everyone that we adhere to health and sanitation protocols for the safety of our mall goers. A review of the Executive Order has been done with the security team and corrective action has been taken to ensure that it is followed,” she said.

Familiaran said they would also look into a report of live performances at restaurants near the Bacolod City Government Center.

They have not received any official complaints of the live performances and need to validate if an uploaded video was only recently recorded, he said.*
