Abandoned smuggled cigarettes worth P2.3M turned over to cops

About P2.3 million worth of abandoned smuggled cigarettes were turned over to the police in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday morning, May 13.

Police said the items were recovered along the roadside in San Juan Bonifacio, Brgy. 5.

A resident identified as alias “Romy”, 66, informed an intelligence operative of the San Carlos City Police Station that he would turn over the abandoned cigarettes.

Authorities coordinated with the concerned citizen, and the items were later turned over to police.

The recovered cigarettes were estimated to have a total market value of P2.3 million.

Police said the items were properly documented through on-site inventory and later brought to the San Carlos City Police Station for documentation and safekeeping.*
