Abalos, big bands, celebs joining Victorias’ Kadalag-an fest: Javi

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. will inaugurate the Victorias command and evacuation center on March 14 as part of the city’s 26th Kadalag-an Festival activities, Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez announced on Wednesday, February 28.

Benitez signed a memorandum of agreement with the Asenso Sidlak Foundation represented by Serafin Plotria Jr. on Wednesday that will manage the festival to be held from March 14 to 24.

It will be held for the first time at the new Sidlak Victorias Global City site to promote the place, and avoid heavy traffic and too much noise in one area, the mayor said.

Last year was the biggest celebration of the Kadalag-an Festival and they will try their best of eclipse it with their 26th Kadalag-an Festival this year, which will have a bigger budget, Benitez said.

“We are pushing to make Victorias City a sports tourism capital not only in the province but in the region” he said.

Benitez said from March 14-17 they will hold their pre-festival sports activities, which will include performances by big bands and national celebrities, including his girlfriend actress Sue Ramirez, Benitez said.

The cultural and main festival activities will be from March 21 to 24, which will include performances by big bands, and national celebrities, including his girlfriend actress Sue Ramirez.

On Charter Day, March 21, GMA artists will perform in the afternoon and Parokya ni Edgar in the evening.

On March 22 during the Kadalag-an Queen coronation night actor and musician Sam Milby will serenade the contestants. Actress Kira Balinger has also been invited, Benitez said.

On March 23 a music festival will be highlighted by Ben & Ben, an indie folk-pop band, he added.*
