The Negros Occidental ASF (African Swine Fever) Task Force seized 805 kilos of meat products from Batangas at the BREDCO Port in Bacolod City 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said.
Seized were P105,000 worth of pork tapa, longaniza and tocino, and beef tapa, he said.
The shipment from Batangasa passed through the Caticlan Port, Dumangas Port on its way to the Bredco Port, he said.
The provincial government has an existing ordinance that bans the entry of pork products to protect Negros Occidental’s swine industry from ASF.
The shipment also had no documents required by the National Meat Inspection Service, Decena said.
The meat products will be sent back to their point of origin at the expense of the shipper or consignee.*
