Eight people were injured after a pickup truck hit a tricycle carrying several passengers in Sitio Ulalod, Brgy. Oringao, Kabankalan City, early Tuesday morning, March 3.
Initial investigation showed that a Honda TMX motorcycle with a sidecar driven by alias “Junjun,” 52, was traveling toward Kabankalan City with eight passengers on board.
Police said the vehicle had no plate number and no tail light.
The other vehicle involved was a Toyota Hilux driven by alias “Wise,” 39, a resident of Brgy. Salong, Kabankalan City.
Authorities said both vehicles were traveling in the same direction from Brgy. Oringao toward the city proper when the pickup truck allegedly failed to notice the tricycle and hit its rear portion.
The impact caused the driver and passengers of the motorcycle to fall onto the pavement.
All victims sustained injuries but remained conscious.
They were rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital by Kabankalan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management personnel for treatment.
Police said the motorcycle was placed under the custody of the barangay while the pickup truck was brought to the Kabankalan City Police Station.
Authorities added that both parties have already reached an amicable settlement.*
