755 injured in NIR road crashes, fireworks

Road crashes and fireworks left seven dead and 755 injured across the Negros Island Region (NIR) from December 21 to January 6, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday.

The DOH-NIR in its final Ligtas Christmas Campaign report said there were 600 road crash injuries recorded in the region with 334 in Negros Occidental, 173 in Negros Oriental, 81 in Siquijor, and 21 in Bacolod City.

Seven died in road crashes, the DOH-NIR said.

The fireworks injuries were 155 with 118 in Negros Occidental, 30 in Negros Oriental, 6 in Bacolod City and 1 in Siquijor.

The blast/burn injuries without amputation were 112, eye injuries – 27, blast/burn injuries with amputation – 4, and eye and blast/burn injuries without amputation -11, the DOH-NIR said.*
