608 influenza-like illnesses in Negros this year: PHO

There have been 608 cases of influenza-like illnesses in Negros Occidental from January 1 to March 2 this year, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported on Tuesday, March 12.

Isabela town had the highest number of recorded influenza-like illnesses with 335, followed by Pontevedra with 145, and Salvador Benedicto with 62.

San Carlos City had 52 cases, Murcia – 5, Hinigaran – 3, Talisay City – 2, and Bago City, Calatrava, and La Castellana – 1 each, the PHO reported.

Typhoid fever cases in the province were 124, with 26 of 31 LGUs having at least one recorded case, and hand-foot-and-mouth diseases had 171 cases from 20 LGUs, the PHO reported.

Dengue cases in Negros Occidental this year have reached 200 with Cadiz City having the highest number, the PHO added.

This is 31.47 percent lower than the same period last year that had 280 cases, the PHO said.

Cadiz City had the highest number of dengue cases in the province this year with 22, followed by San Carlos City with 21, and Silay City with 19.

Victorias City had 13 cases, La Carlota City and Sagay City – 11 each, Bago City and Talisay City – 10 each, Manapla – 9, and Cauayan – 8.*
