6 injured in motorcycle crashes

Six people were injured in two motorcycle crashes in Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, Feb. 8.

In the first incident at around 2:30 p.m. at Sitio Magsaysay, Brgy. Mansablay, a 63-year-old pedestrian was injured after being hit by a Raider 150cc motorcycle driven by a 17-year-old male minor with a 15-year-old male back rider.

Police said the motorcycle was traveling from the Isabela Public Market toward Mansablay when the pedestrian suddenly crossed the road and was hit.

The pedestrian sustained head contusions and an injury to his right foot, while the motorcycle driver suffered a minor knee injury and the back rider complained of leg pain.

All three were brought to the Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital.

In a separate accident at around 7:40 p.m. at the national road in Sitio Alegria, Brgy. 5, three more people were injured after a collision between a Honda XRM motorcycle and a motorcycle with sidecar.

Police said the Honda XRM attempted to overtake the motorcycle with sidecar but accidentally hit the rear of the sidecar, causing both vehicles to fall.

The Honda XRM driver, a 59-year-old man, sustained severe head injuries and was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City due to his critical condition.

A 62-year-old female passenger of the sidecar suffered a fracture on her right hand and injuries to both knees, while a four-year-old child passenger sustained head injuries.

The injured were rushed to the Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital by the Isabela LDRRMO.

Both accidents are under investigation, and the vehicles involved were placed under the custody of the Isabela Municipal Police Station.*
