The Top 5 Gender-Responsive Local Government Units in Negros Occidental were awarded during the Provincial Development Council (PDC) yearend meeting at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Monday, Dec. 18.
The Top 5 are Hinoba-an, Victorias City, Himamaylan City, Cadiz City, and Cauayan, who received trophies and cash incentives.
The Provincial Search for Gender Responsive Local Government Units (GeRL) was conducted based on tools prescribed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The study assessed the compliance of LGUs in the implementation of their Gender and Development GAD funded programs, projects and activities.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz also presented the 2023-2028 Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) of the province at the PDC for endorsement to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD) for approval.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson cited the commendation made by the Regional Land Use Committee, the body that conducted the review of the PDPFP, a six-year book that serves as a planning blueprint of the province, which seeks to harmonize the local and national plans with the provincial plan.
The Provincial Planning and Development Office headed by Anna Marie “Benja” Lucasan, PPDO officer-in-charge, was commended for completing the updating of the provincial plan, ahead of other provinces in Region 6.*
