The Bacolod Traffic Authority Council (BTAC) is launching a 45-day vehicle parking experiment along Lacson Street, Bacolod City, starting Monday, Sept. 9.

In response to the request of the business sector, the BTAC convened and approved a 45-day proposed experiment allowing free parking on Lacson Street, focusing on areas near restaurants from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Mondays to Fridays, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said.

Parking will also be allowed for the entire Saturday and Sunday ending at 5 a.m. of Monday, it added.

The primary aim is to find a balance between maintaining smooth traffic flow on Lacson Street and providing business owners with the opportunity for their customers to park near their establishments, the BTAC said.

Should the experiment  prove effective, the Sangguniang Panlungsod will consider its approval in a formal ordinance, it added.*
