4 killed in multiple vehicle accident in Negros Oriental

Four persons were killed and one was injured when an oil tanker crashed into multiple vehicles and a house along the highway in Brgy. North Poblacion, Bacong, Negros Oriental, Saturday morning, August 19.

Killed were Ruel Pascual, 43, his wife, Analy, 42, and their daughter Shelly, 15, from Brgy. Buntis, and Meliton Blanco, 59, from Brgy. Combado, all in Bacong town.

Wilson Kial Tubil, 43, of Dauin, Neg. Or., was also injured in the accident.

The suspect was identified as Albert de Baguio, 33, of Brgy. Cabang, Jimalaud, Neg. Or., who immediately surrendered to the police after the accident.

Bacong Police Chief Gereon Item said that when the left tire of the tanker truck busted, the driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in its sideswiping a canter truck and crashing into a multicab, motorcycles, and a house.

The Pascual family members were onboard the multicab, while Blanco and Kial were driving their motorcycles when the incident happened.

De Bagiuo said he did not intend to cause the accident and apologized to the families of the victims.

He will face reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicides, physical injuries, and damage to property charges, the police said.*
