Thirty-nine of 53 Bacolod City government workers who tested positive for the use of illegal drugs have voluntarily surrendered for rehabilitation.

There were 17 from the Public Order and Safety Office and 22 from the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office who surrendered, retired PGen. Primitivo Tabujara, Bacolod Anti Drug Program coordinator, said Friday, August 11.

The 14 who failed to surrender will be included in the drugs watchlist for surveillance and if evidence warrants charges will be filed against them, PCol. Noel Aliño, Bacolod police director, said.

“Don’t dare me, I warned you, I mean it I will arrest all of you,” Aliño said.

He said he will gather evidence against the 14 and find out where they are getting their drug supply.

Tabujara said the 39 who surrendered were subjected to profiling and their mugshots and fingerprints were taken on Thursday.

Those who did not surrender have been given a second chance to do so next week before police action is taken, he said.

Tabujara said about 100 other drug users from different barangays in Bacolod City on Thursday were also subjected for profiling for rehabilitation.

There are 20 barangays in Bacolod about to be declared drug cleared, he said.*
