
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Negros Island Region declared 34 barangays in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Bacolod City as drug-cleared during the 1st Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing deliberation held at Kanlaon Hall, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, on Aug. 22.
A press release from PDEA-NIR said that all applicant barangays passed the deliberation, with six from Negros Oriental, 27 from Negros Occidental, and one from Bacolod City.
From Negros Oriental, the newly declared drug-cleared barangays are Amdus in Ayungon, Concepcion in Manjuyod, Calasga-gan in Bais City, Bio-os in Amlan, Bulibulihan in Mabinay, and Bangcal in Jimalalud.
From Negros Occidental, the barangays are San Teodoro in Binalbagan, Zone 6 and Luna in Cadiz City, Malatas and Pinucotan in Calatrava, Poblacion and Tuyom in Cauayan, Bunga in Don Salvador Benedicto, Magsaysay, Paitan, and Udtongan in Escalante City.
Su-ay in Himamaylan City, Barangay 2, Pilar, and Tagda in Hinigaran, Asia and Talacagay in Hinobaan, Barangay 9 in Kabankalan City, Zone 3 and Zone 5 in Murcia, Poblacion II and Rizal in Sagay City, Prosperidad in San Carlos City, Zone 4, Zone 5, and Zone 15 in Talisay City, and Poblacion in Toboso.
Barangay 4 in Bacolod City was also declared drug-cleared.
The press release added that the activity strengthens the national government’s campaign for drug-free communities, underscoring the importance of inter-agency coordination and LGU support.
