33 Soldiers, 1 CAA get medals for combat accomplishment

Thirty-three soldiers and one Cafgu Active Auxillary (CAA) in Negros Occidental received Military Merit Medals with Bronze Spearhead Device from Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, Army 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, commander Monday, April 25.

Two officers and 31 enlisted personnel of the 15th Infantry Battalion and one CAA were awarded for their involvement in a Negros Occidental clash that left one New People’s Army rebel killed and resulted in their seizing a high-powered firearm in Sitio Bajay, Brgy Caliling, Cauayan, on April 19, and Army press release sad.

Arevalo, in his speech, recognized the strategies of the troops in finding ways in locating and hitting the enemies, which led to another triumph of the Army’s 3rd Infantry ( Spearhead) Division.

“May this award serve as your inspiration and motivation to do your best as a soldier and to serve and secure the peace-loving people not only in Negros island, but as well as to the area if Western and Central Visayas,” Arevalo told the awardees.*
