306 Negrense teachers promoted under DepEd’s career progression system

An initial 306 teachers of the Department of Education Schools Division Office (SDO) of Negros Occidental have been approved for promotion under the agency’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System.

“This marks the first batch of successful applicants, with additional approvals expected in succeeding releases,” DepEd-Negros Occidental spokesperson Ian Arnold Arnaez said in an interview on Wednesday.

The list of the promoted teachers is included in the Feb. 10 memorandum issued by Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales, announcing that the reclassifications of these teachers have been approved by the DepEd – Negros Island Region (NIR) and transmitted to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) – NIR for appropriate action.

“The SDO, through the Personnel Section, is currently awaiting the action of the DBM-NIR, including but not limited to notice of organization, staffing, and compensation action. Upon receipt thereof, this office will issue the corresponding call up order for appointment,” Sales further said in the memorandum.
Among the 306 promoted, the majority have the position of Teacher I, who will move up to the positions of Teacher II up to Teacher VI while a number of those who are Teacher III will also become Teacher VI or Teacher VII.

The ECP System for Teachers and School Heads is implemented pursuant to Executive Order 174, series of 2022, which establishes the Expanded Career Progression System for Public School Teachers, along with its Implementing Rules and Regulations.

The ECP aims to strengthen professional development and provide clearer pathways for career advancement among teachers and school heads, anchored on established qualifications and professional standards.

By offering structured opportunities for progression and commensurate compensation based on competencies and performance, the initiative seeks to enhance morale, boost motivation, and retain high-performing educators within the organization – ultimately contributing to greater job satisfaction, productivity, and professional fulfillment.*
