The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region will deploy 300 police personnel to augment security operations for the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City.
PRO-NIR held a send-off ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the NOcPPO grandstand inside Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. at Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City.
The ceremony was led by PRO-NIR Regional Director BGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, along with members of the command group, regional staff, and other police personnel.
PRO-NIR said the deployed augmentation force includes three personnel from the regional headquarters, 63 from the Bacolod City Police Office, 69 from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 65 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and 100 newly graduated police personnel from the Field Training Program to be downloaded to the region.
The personnel will be on duty from Jan. 22 to 26 to support intensified security measures for the Dinagyang Festival.
Ibay said the deployment also serves as PRO-NIR’s way of reciprocating the support extended by Police Regional Office 6 during the MassKara Festival.
He reminded the deployed personnel to prioritize their personal safety while performing their duties and to ensure the safety of festival goers.
PRO-NIR assured the public that security coverage in the Negros Island Region will remain robust and uninterrupted despite the deployment, citing adequate manpower, strategic deployment, and continuous monitoring.*
