The San Carlos City government bestowed Citizen Lifesaver Awards to three residents who revived a boy who drowned on Easter Sunday, March 31.
San Carlos Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona bestowed the awards on Andy Himongala, Mac Devy Obenieta, and Vincent Rito Ortigas at the lobby of the San Carlos city hall on Thursday, April 11.
The three demonstrated their bravery and quick thinking by rescuing and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a 13-year-old boy from Fatima Village, Brgy. Rizal, a post on the San Carlos City Facebook page said.
The boy drowned while swimming in the open sea along Park Marina on March 31. Thanks to their swift action, the young survivor was immediately transported to the hospital and was discharged three days later, the post said.
“Their prompt and decisive actions truly signify the spirit of community and heroism,” it added.*
