Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. and Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante III of Negros Occidental are rejoining the Lakas CMD headed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Toboso Mayor Madonnah Jaojoco is also joining the Lakas CMD, Escalante III said.
The Manapla mayor said they are just waiting for instructions from Rep. Alfredo Marañon III on when the oath taking rites will be. It could be next week, he said.
They were members of the Lakas CMD but during the term of then president Rodrigo Duterte they took their oaths as PDP Laban members.
The Cadiz mayor earlier said did not know if they were accepted as PDP Laban members. After their oathtaking rites they did not receive any documents stating that they had been accepted as members of the party, he said.
The Manapla mayor said when they checked they were still listed as Lakas CMD members but they will take their oaths again.
He said other officials of his town will also be joining Lakas CMD.
Meanwhile, Sipalay Mayor Gina Lizares said she was at the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) oathtaking rites at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on Monday on the invitation of Victorias Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez but she did not join the party.
Lizares said she was there as moral support and accompanied three Sipalay councilors who took their oaths as PFP members.
She remains a Nationalist People’s Coalition member, Lizares said.*
