
Three people were killed in separate shooting incidents on New Year’s eve and day.
In the first few hours of 2021, a 27-year-old man was killed by motorcycle-riding suspects at Barangay 2 in Bacolod City.
Killed was drug surrenderer Jomar Pahamutang of Barangay 3.
Based on a police report, the victim sustained several gunshot wounds to his chest and stomach and was brought to Riverside Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the scene was six empty bullets of a .45 caliber pistol and a slug.
In San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, 56-year-old Mercidito Pique was also shot dead at Barangay Quezon past 6 p.m. of January 1.
Prior to the incident the victim had a heated argument with 45-year-old Noel Geopano, a farmer, who shot Pique three times with an unknown firearm, the police said.
The suspect fled after the incident while the victim was declared dead on arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital.
On December 31, Edgar Atido, 52, a radio operator of the Binalbagan Police Station, was shot dead by unidentified suspects at Barangay Maytubig in Isabela town.
Atido, a resident of Barangay Tinongan, Isabela, was brought to Ignacio Arroyo Memorial District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police have yet to establish the motive for the killings.*
