
Three alleged members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) were killed in two separate encounters in Negros and Panay on Friday, April 1.
Two NPA members were killed in a 20-minute firefight between the 94th Infantry Battalion soldiers and about 15 rebels in So. Kulihaw, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, at 3 p.m. Friday, the Army reported Sunday, April 3.
Killed were Elbert Nicolas Quillano, alias Carding, a finance officer of the SDG Platoon, and Jessa Luiso Quillano, alias Clean and Js, a medical officer of the same NPA unit, the Army reported.
Recovered from the encounter site were a .45 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber magazine loaded with seven live ammunition, a Lenovo tablet, two cellular phones, one Baofeng radio, various subversive documents and personal belongings.
Two alleged NPA rebels were also killed in an encounter in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on March 25.
Meanwhile, one NPA rebel was killed in an encounter with the 31st Division Reconnaissance Company in So. Maytaraw, Barangay Dalagaa-an, Libacao, Aklan, also on Friday.
Killed was Geralyn C. Gilbaliga, alias Minang and Lea, a political guide and team leader of the Baloy Platoon from Brgy. Lahug, Tapaz, Capiz.
She is the wife of Rolando Diaz, alias Kadoy, squad leader of the same NPA unit, the Army said.
Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division commander, commended the Army soldiers for their relentless operations against the NPA rebels.
He also urged the remaining members of the CPP-NPA to surrender.
“We will continue to hunt the remaining members of the terrorist group as part and parcel of our service to the Filipino people,” he said.*
