Mayor Gerry Rojas is inviting everyone to join the week-long celebration of Murcia’s 29th Tinabuay Festival that kicks off on Monday, December 2, and culminates on Sunday, December 8, the Feast of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and the 164th Patronal Fiesta of the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Parish.
This year’s edition of the Tinabu-ay Festival starts with a thanksgiving mass in honor of the town’s patroness, to be followed by a parade and opening program. Rojas will then lead the launch of the “Baligyaanay sa Fiesta” Trade Fair and the 1st Tinabuay Invitational Fancy Drill Competition: Battle of Champions at the public plaza.
The afternoon acvities feature an exhibition basketball game at the Murcia Gym, switch on ceremony of the “Bituon sg Paglaum” at the public plaza, and the “Dyosa sg Tinabuay” (LGBT Night) at the Festival Stage.
A live band will perform at the Festival Stage every night.
The Mobile Legend Tournament (Public Plaza), gift-giving for kids (whole-day at the Gym) and the ABC and SK Night (Plaza Covered Court) take place on Tuesday (December 3), while the farmers and municipal employees take center stage on Wednesday (December 3) with the “Adlaw sg mga Mangunguma” at the Covered Court and “Pasundayag sg mga Empleyado” at the Murcia Gym.
On December 5 (Thursday), there will be the Mural Painting Competition (Manokan/Bagsakan) in the morning, followed in the afternoon by the 4th Mayor Gerry Rojas Boxing Competition at the Plaza Covered Court, the DepEd Night at the Murcia Gym and the Zumba sa Plaza at the Festival Stage in the evening.
The Mural Painting Competition continues at the same venue on December 6 (Friday), along with the Karera de Cintas within the Tinabuay Market Area and the Pahampang sa Murcia at the Plaza Covered Court.
Festival activites sprint off on Saturday (December 6) with the 2nd Mayor Gerry Rojas MBTC Bike Race in front of Lopue’s-Murcia, Day 1 of the Chess Tournament at the Plaza Covered Court, and the 4th Mayor Gerry Rojas Motorcross and the 1st Mayor Gerry Rojas Trail Riders at Brgy. Cansilayan. Spicing up Saturday night is the “Reyna sg Tinabuaay” Pageant Night at the Murcia Gym.
The Tinabuay Festival culminates on December 8 (Sunday), the feast day of the town’s patroness, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, with a Holy Mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, “A Date with Javi” and a Mass Wedding at the Murcia Gym.
Sunday afternoon will feature the “Tinabuay Festival Street and Arena Dance Competition along Rizal Street and the Plaza. Awarding ceremonies will be in the evening at the Covered Court, to be followed by the closing ceremony and Fireworks Display at the Festival Stage.
The Mayonnaise Band will then entertain the public at the Festival Stage for the rest of the night.*
