2,940 typhoon victims in Ilog get assistance

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the distribution of relief goods and construction materials worth P14.3 million to victims of Typhoon “Odette” in Ilog town in southern Negros Occidental Wednesday, February 2.

The recipients were 2,940 residents from 15 barangays, Lacson said.

They distributed plain and corrugated GI sheets for roofing worth P13.5 million purchased with provincial government funds and donations from Senator Edgardo Angara, Rep. Loren Legarda and San Miguel Corp, he said.

The governor also thanked Iligan City for donating P1 million to the provincial government for typhoon assistance, which will likely be used for the purchase of additional construction materials.

The provincial government has delivered construction materials and relief goods to typhoon victims in Sipalay City, Ilog and Hinoba-an, and is scheduled to deliver to Cauayan, Candoni and Kabankalan City next, Lacson said.*
