Twenty-six personnel of the Escalante City District Jail tested negative for illegal drug use during a joint search, seizure, and drug-testing operation conducted in Brgy. Hacienda Fe, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The operation was carried out at around 7 a.m. by the PDEA Negros Island Region Seaport/Airport Interdiction Unit–Negros Occidental in coordination with Escalante Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel.
The team inspected the facility and oversaw the drug testing of 26 jail officers, two females and 24 males who all yielded negative results.
No illegal drugs or contraband were found inside the jail during the operation.
Authorities said the activity is part of ongoing efforts to sustain a drug-free jail environment and reinforce integrity and professionalism among BJMP personnel.*
