Twenty-four casual and contractual workers of the Binalbagan municipal government in Negros Occidental have tested positive for the use of illegal drugs, Mayor Emmanuel Aranda said on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Their employment contracts will be ended and not renewed, Aranda said.
Aranda said close to 400 contractual and casual employees of the municipal government were randomly tested for drugs on Feb. 11.
The 24 who tested positive come from different departments of the municipal government, he said.
The mayor said more surprise drug tests will be conducted.
He had the tests were conducted because of the rampant reports of the existence of shabu and to ensure a drug free workplace, Aranda said.*
