Two suspected rebels died in an encounter with state troopers in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, March 26.
Police identified the fatalities as Arnulfo Sabanal, 41, and Jayson Sabanal, 30, both farmers and residents of the city.
Police report showed that troopers from the 94th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army encountered the suspected members of the New People’s Army while conducting blocking operations in the area.
After the firefight, the rebels withdrew towards the south and north directions.*
