2 die in motorcycle crashes

Two men died in motorcycle crashes in Valladolid town and Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday night, Jan. 13, the police said.

In Valladolid, a 73-year-old farmer died after he was hit by a motorcycle in Purok Ykalina, Brgy. Guintorilan, at around 8:45 p.m., the police reported.

The motorcycle was traveling from Brgy. Ayungon toward Brgy. Sibucao in San Enrique when it hit the pedestrian, the police said.

The police said both the motorcycle driver and the pedestrian sustained injuries and were rushed to the Valladolid District Hospital.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead by the attending physician, police said.

In a separate incident, a 34-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash at the national road in Sitio Quarry, Brgy. Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City, at around 11:20 p.m., the police said.

The Sagay City Police Station said the victim was found unconscious on the pavement beside his motorcycle.

Police investigation showed the victim was traveling from Escalante City toward Sagay City when he failed to notice a dead-end and lost control of the motorcycle.

The victim sustained severe head and body injuries and was rushed to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. District Hospital.

Despite medical efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at around 11:50 p.m., police said.*
