Two men died in motorcycle crashes in Negros Occidental on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The first incident happened at about around 7 a.m. at the national highway in Brgy. Vista Alegre, Ilog, where motorcycle driver “Noni”, 63, was fatally injured.

Police said he was driving a red Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle with a sidecar and was heading north when he made a left turn along the highway.

The maneuver brought his motorcycle into the path of a Toyota Innova traveling in the same direction.

The vehicle, driven by “Nomar,” 45, of Sipalay City, struck the motorcycle’s sidecar.

Responders brought the victim to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, but he was declared dead on arrival at 7:52 a.m.

Both vehicles sustained damage that will undergo further assessment.

The Innova was confirmed to be a unit previously donated to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Police said the driver is detained at the Ilog Police Station pending investigation.

Later at around 7:40 p.m., another fatal crash was reported in Hacienda Panaogao, Brgy. IV, Silay City.

A Suzuki Smash motorcycle driven by “Sani,” 25, hit a parked Isuzu dump truck along J. Pitong Street.

Traffic cones had been placed ahead of the parked truck.

Police said the motorcycle was traveling from west to east toward Barangay E. Lopez when it hit the rear of the truck.

Both “Sani” and his wife, “Marie,” 29, sustained severe head injuries.

The victims were rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital but the motorcycle driver was declared dead.

Both vehicles were taken to the Silay City Police Station for proper disposition.*
