Two Negros Occidental provincial government-owned properties are being eyed for the establishment of Negros Island Region offices in the future, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, Oct. 24.

He said all regional offices assigned to Negros Occidental could be located in the provincial government’s Talisay City property.

They could also be located at the provincial government’s 7,000-square meter property where the Boy Scouts of the Philippines headquarters was previously located at Lacson Street in Bacolod City, the governor said.

A high-rise building could be built in the area through a public private partnership where spaces could be provided for the regional offices, he said.

NIR regional offices assigned to Negros Occidental include the departments of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, Agrarian Reform, and Human Settlements and Urban Development, Justice, Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, and Department of National Defense.

Also assigned to Negros Occidental are the Departments of Budget and Management, Finance, Foreign Affairs, National Economic and Development Authority, Commission on Audit, and Commission on Elections.*
