2 arrested in Bacolod, P564,400 in ‘shabu’ seized

Two persons listed in a barangay drug watchlist were arrested and about 83 grams of suspected shabu worth P564,400 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, Wednesday night, Oct. 14.

The Bacolod City Police Office identified the suspects only as aliases “Ding,” 48, tagged by police as a high-value individual, and “Jesson,” 33, classified as a street-level individual.

Both are residents of Barangay Vista Alegre and were listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council watchlist, police said.

The operation was conducted at around 10:42 p.m. in Purok Progreso Village 1 by the BCPO City Drug Enforcement Unit, with support from the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 7.

Police recovered eight heat-sealed sachets and a knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing suspected shabu with an estimated total weight of 83 grams.

The seized drugs had a standard drug price of P564,400, based on P6,800 per gram.

Also recovered were a pouch, a P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money, and P950 in various denominations believed by police to be proceeds from illegal drug activities.

Police said “Ding” faces complaints for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, covering the sale and possession of illegal drugs.

“Jesson,” meanwhile, faces a complaint for alleged violation of Section 11, or illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

The suspects and confiscated evidence were placed under police custody for documentation and proper disposition.*
