12 Negros Occidental barangays declared drug cleared

The Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs declared 29 additional barangays in Western Visayas, 12 of which are from Negros Occidental, cleared from illegal drugs today, February 17.

Barangays declared drug cleared in Negros Occidental are Pantao in Calatrava, Basak in Cauayan, Damgo in EB Magalona, Camba-og of Hinigaran, I Poblacion in Hinoba-an, Buenavista from Himamaylan City, Banog-banog of Isabela, Andulauan of Ilog, Puey of Sagay City, Kapitan Ramon from Silay City, Zone 7 of Talisay City and 15-A of Victorias City.

The highest number of cleared barangays came from Negros Occidental with 12, Guimaras – six, Aklan – five, Capiz – four, and Iloilo – two, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported.

The number increased the total cleared barangays to 3,282 from out of the 4,051 barangays in Western Visayas, it added.

The PDEA said as of Wednesday, 81.017 percent of barangays in the region were already cleared of illegal drugs.*
