PrimeWater-Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) on Friday, May 3 released a water availability map for Bacolod City.
The map shows 12 barangays in Bacolod City that have areas with only zero to four hours of water available a day with a decrease in supply from its water supplier because of the El Niño phenomenon, PrimeWater said.
The areas with only 0-4 hours of water available are in barangays Handumanan, Tangub, Mandalagan, Felisa, Vista Alegre, Villamonte, Taculing, Alijis, Sum-ag, Mansilingan, 40 and Banago .
To mitigate the El Nino effects, PrimeWater-BACIWA have deployed 24 water tanks with 2000 liters capacity in the 12 barangays.
PrimeWater also has five water trucks with a total of 53 cubic meters for daily water rationing and delivery to address the increasing demands, it added.
PrimeWater assured that work for an additional supply of five million liters per day (mld) from Bocal-Bocal Spring to improve water production in the north side of Bacolod is underway and will be operational by the second week of May.
An ongoing pipeline and interconnection project from Forbes Hill to North Circumferential Road for an additional 2 mld, which will improve the water supply in Eroreco, Brgy. Bata and Brgy. Mandalagan will also be operational by the end of May, it added.
Primewater-Baciwa also said that construction of Water Treatment Plant located at Matab-ang River is ongoing, which will ensure 3 mld within 6 months and additional 3 mld increasing to 15-20 mld in the succeeding year.*
