The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division reported 16 encounters resulting to the neutralization of 116 members of the New People’s Army in 2024 in its 4th Quarter Campaign Progress Assessment on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Maj. Gen. Marion R. Sison, 3ID Commander, reported that they conducted 11 major and 5 minor encounters against NPA groups resulting to the neutralization of 116 rebels, including top leaders and high-value individuals.
These encounters also resulted to the seizure of 145 assorted firearms, he said.
Sison said these counter-insurgency efforts led to the declaration of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Antique as Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPs) areas.
These accomplishments earned the 3ID the Gawad Parangal Plaque from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, he said.
The Division awarded the 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Battalion with a Command Plaque for a Nov. 21 encounter in Brgy. Gatuslao, Candoni, Negros Occidental, where they neutralized seven NPA remnants and seized 13 firearms.
