Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson met with the 11 Negrense-scholars on Tuesday, January 6, who are bound for Taiwan to pursue post graduate studies.
They qualified for the NOSP Pagkaon Scholars – Master’s Degree program in Taiwan, and are all BS Agriculture graduates of Catholic Ming Yuan College in the Municipality of Murcia.
They are former NOSP Pagkaon scholars from the towns of Murcia and Hinobaan, and Bago City.
Six of them will take up Master in Food Sciences degrees at Fu Jen Catholic University, while the other five will take up Master of Science in Green Technology for Sustainability degrees at Nanhua University.
The Negros Occidental provincial government paid for the scholars’ visas, medical fees, and airfare.
Lacson advised the scholars to do good in their studies and make the province proud of them.
“Make the most of the opportunity given to you for you are going to learn something that you will use for the rest of your life,” he said.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz told the scholars to learn the modern agricultural technology in Taiwan, so they can share their knowledge with the agriculturists in the province, and contribute to the improvement of the agriculture sector in the future.
Also present in the meeting were Fr. Yongxing Cui of the CMYC, Alfredo Barcelona, CMYC chairman of the Board, Prof. Mariam Castel, and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program head Karen Dinsay.*
