A one-year-old girl died while two others were injured after a driver lost control over his tricycle at a barangay road in Hacienda Balandra 2, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City on Wednesday morning, Jan. 28.
Police said the incident happened around 7:40 a.m. and involved a Kawasaki Barako tricycle driven by a 29-year-old man identified as alias “Jun,” with two passengers onboard.
Initial investigation by Cadiz City Component Police Station showed that the tricycle was traveling from Barangay Andres Bonifacio toward Barangay Luna when its front fender got stuck on the front wheel, causing the driver to lose control.
The driver and a 45-year-old female passenger sustained injuries after falling onto the cemented road, while the one-year-old passenger was rushed to Cadiz District Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.
Police said the driver and the tricycle were brought to Cadiz Police Station.*
