‘Negros groups consolidate for Leni people’s campaign’

Various groups gathered to consolidate their forces for the people’s campaign for presidential candidate Leni Robredo in Negros Occidental at Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City on Tuesday, November 30.

They are creating Robredo People’s Councils in the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, former governor Rafael Coscolluela, Negros for Leni convenor, said.

“We are bringing organized groups, people’s organizations together to consolidate and prepare for the people’s campaign for Leni,” he said.

“We are gratified to see the provincewide popular support for Leni,” he added.

He said one critical component of the people’s campaign is bringing the truth to the people, many of whom are victims of a heavily funded propaganda campaign that has perpetuated lies.

Coscolluela said 200 leaders of organized groups were at the gathering Tuesday who represent at least 20,000 members who can conduct the Robredo campaign provincewide.

The people’s campaign will also include continuing conversations with the people on their aspirations for the country, he said.

The people’s campaign participants yesterday also held a march in support of Robredo.

Inday Goco, Partidong Manggagawa-Negros secretary general, who spearheaded the event, said the participants were composed of the urban poor, fisherfolk, women, farmers, youth and other sectoral groups, including labor unions.

“We in the periphery want to do our share to ensure the victory of Leni Robredo and her running mate, Kiko Pangilinan” she said.*
