It is a proud moment for Negros Occidental as four Negrense boxers won two gold and two bronze medals in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, May 23.
Ian Clark Bautista of Binalbagan and Rogen Ladon of Bago City won gold medals, and Riza Pasuit of Binalbagan and James Palicte of Bago City won bronze medals, the governor pointed out.
Lacson congratulated the four for winning, pointing out that qualifying for the SEA games was a long journey for the athletes.
“We all know how the pandemic made it more difficult for all of you, yet you emerged on top of your sport,” he said.
“Your outstanding accomplishment has shown us what Negrenses are capable of achieving when a formidable goal is approached with relentless dedication, hard work, faith in oneself, and most of all, faith in God,” he said.
“On behalf of a very proud province, congratulations. May you continue to be exemplars of excellence and inspirations to all the Negrenses, particularly to our youth,” Lacson added.*
