Police probers in Hinobaan are looking at the possibility that an employee of the Rural Bank of Ilog in Barangay 1, Hinobaan town, Negros Occidental, may be involved in the P1.3 million heist last week.

Maj. Clifford Batadhay, Hinobaan police chief, said that three of the six bank employees have already submitted their affidavits to the police.

He said they are still waiting for the results of the fingerprints matching at the scene.

He also said that a copy of the closed-circuit television footage was sent to the cybercrime group of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office for further investigation.

No security guard was on duty when the robbery happened.

The estimated cash inside the vault that was carted away by the suspects was P1.3 million.

In the police report, probers found a face towel that is smelled of gas, a partially burned mosquito killer coil, and sticks of matches.

Based on the recovered evidence and initial assessment of the scene, it showed that the suspects intended to burn the bank, the police said.

The report also said that the suspects were familiar and knowledgeable about the bank.*
