
There are 80 more COVID-19 deaths in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, the Department of Health reported Friday, November 26.
The DOH said there are 59 new deaths in Negros Occidental and 21 in Bacolod City.
Executive Director Em Legaspi Ang of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center-Task Force, said the deaths were not recent, there has been a big drop in the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the city lately.
The DOH is reporting deaths that happened earlier, which it has only recently recorded, she said.
The DOH does not post the number of COVID-19 deaths until it gets copies of death certificates, she said.
The DOH death figures for Bacolod were short 140 of the total number, Ang said.
The DOH on Friday reported that Bacolod City has 523 active COVID-19 cases and a total of 745 deaths.
Negros Occidental had 507 active cases and a total of 1,683 deaths since the start of the pandemic, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported Friday.
The DOH reported a total of 855 deaths in Negros Occidental on Friday, which apparently showed delayed reporting of the number of COVID-19 casualties.*
