Will PCL Negros election be a two-cornered fight?

Will it be a two-cornered race for the   Philippine Councilors League- Negros Occidental chapter presidency?

The league is currently headed by Silay City No.1 Councilor Ryan Gamboa, who sits on the provincial board.

He allegedly may be challenged by La Carlota No 5. Councilor Julius Martin Asistio, the son of Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer.

Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, United Negros Alliance (UNegA) executive secretary, said he heard Asistio will run but nothing is final.

He said UNegA will probably meet in June to come up with a common candidate before the PCL election.

Aside from the PCL elections, Escalante said, meetings will also be held to discuss the elections for the Association of Chief Executives (ACE) Negros Occidental and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP).

He said UNegA will always invite Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and representatives of Love Negros.

Former Victorias City Mayor Frederick Palanca is president of ACE, while Valladolid Mayor Enrique Miravalles heads LMP.*
